Had an interresting day today.
8 silver dimes
1920 S
1940 S
1935 S
1937 P
1951 D
1949 S
1948 D
1948 S

The ring I am pretty sure is gold, but I am not seeing a stamp -- it is pretty heavy and thick and the digital on the explorer was 11/04

Total wheat back count was 26 for the day -- with quite a few early dates -- the best find was the 1914 D wheat penny though -- tried to get a good pic -- little nervous about cleaning it :o :o

Great job Gabbit....gotta love it,some very nice find's.Congrat's and HH!!

That 14-D looks like it was in awesome shape when it was dropped, WTG! I have successfully cleaned coins in this kinda shape with olive oil and a toothpick without hurting them any, but from what I hear from conservator Olive oil is acidic to older copper. With the amount of corrosion on there already, I don't think olive oil is going to hurt it any worse than it already is. Be patient with it, and learn a light touch from a test coin or two beforehand, if ya wanna try.

Those are some nice finds ....Most of the silver coins are in great shape ...I think you have a nice spot there !! :o :o :o

Wow, Gabbit, You have a great spot there. :) Are you going back tomorrow?

I am pretty beat up. Most of the holes were 7" deep or more. You should see the amount of trash targets that sounded to good to pass up. I might be able to sneak way for an hour or two though ;D -- There still has to be a key merc somewhere.

The 1935 looks like it still has the mint luster -- full split bands -- lucky the soil in my area seems to be kind to silver.

Might have to go that route -- maybe I will do what I can with a toothbrush to see how the coin looks after that. Can the toothpick scratch the surface??

Should take you and Bobbie along -- you 2 seem to clean up on all the gold.

Nice finds ! What depth are you getting the dimes at? At one spot I was finding mercury dimes down 2 inches beneath most other coins and I am wondering if they just end up deeper or it was coincidence . Thanks for the post ,real good day you had there . Bob

6-10 inches deep -- same depth as the pennies -- the real stumper is I have not found one quarter, but total from the site is 21 silver dimes and 69 wheats -- you would think I would find at least one quarter. I have only pulled 1 clad coin deeper than 6 inches.

Congrats on all that silver, 8 in one hunt is great! HH, Mike

Hey Gabbit:

Looks like you had a good day. Went out to my site yesterday and found a few items above ground. As you know I will not received my Bounty Hunter until tomorrow.

Took some pictures which I will post tomorrow.

Check your e-mail... I sent you an invite to the Stockyard site.

Lots of silver for one hunt!!! Keep it up and congrats. Vern
