Grandfathers collection of Gold and Silver Ore From Comstock and Mother Loads

Im new to the site and hopefully will be a good contributing member.

My Grandfather left a large collection of ore that Ive had most of my adult life. Many pieces are crazy cool and large. Some, I have little clue what they are so Im going to post some items in hopes of getting any feedback.

Here are a couple pieces with no notes from him other than Virginia City, 1956. I think they are iron ore? Thanks for anyone's feedback

Nice looking rocks you have there!
An easy at home step that can be quite revealing, dunk those in a diluted iron out bath for as long as it takes to remove that surface oxidation.
They may end up like this.
It was oxidized and rusty like yours.
