hi all went out hunting this morn by myself couldnt get ahold of any of my hunting partners and i decided to try a new spot ive been eyeing for awhile but was afraid to do it figuring id get harrassed by neibors. its in a pretty uppeddy area but it is public grounds and i learned other people hunt there so i said what the hey. and im glad i did. the first thing i found was the plated ring and then a few minutes later i found the three wheats and im thinking to myself theres gotta be silver hear and then bang 1918 merc. about 10 min later i get this screaming half dollar signal and im like ya right. 3 min later im holding a franklin half in my hand. by this time im freaking and think to myself im gonna just detect my way to the truck now and save this for my hunting partners to and i was about 10 feet from the truck and i got a deep copper signal kinda broken up too and about 8 inches i pull out a king george copper facing left. i think i see afew 7s but its hard to say im still soaking its 17? what a way to end a hunt. i did all this in a hour. thanx willy

Looks like a young head KGII. AWESOME. With a little TLC you should pull the date. Congrats...Hogge :headbang: Nothin' like seeing that disc come from the ground!

Nope, It's definitely not/Can't be 1727. :)

It's the old head George II. (1740s/50s) If the last digit is 7 the only possible date is 1747. (1737 is the young head, issue ended in 1754)

thanx iron patch!!! gonna let it soak for a few days. olive oil that is. willy

Wow, I assume you are planning many return visits to that spot. If others have been there and you are still able to find a Ben and a Copper you know there is much more still there.

I look forward to seeing your next post !!!

Congrats on the big silver and KG...
