First... I understand that using pictures to grade a coin is not the way to it, and worse, behind a piece of plastic...without going into the details or the reason, I bought these coins today a a local coin shop that I've sold some halves to in the past...AGAIN, I realize that you are basing your comments on some lousy pics....I just thought it would be fun to hear some what you think...if you would, please give your opinion on the coins and what would be a fair value for them, I've blocked out the price and grade written on some as so not influence opinions...thanks for taking the time to look and comment...I'll post the prices paid later, if anyone is interested.

VF35 (possibly cleaned)
VF20
I believe the last two are uncirculated
MS62 (I like the obverse, the reverse not so much)
MS60 (Nasty slide marks on the obverse, the reverse looks nice)

What do I win?

I change my opinion on the last two.
1884-O MS-60 1887 MS-60
Its kinda hard to tell if its wear on the last two or weak strike. Nice luster though.
1883 $21 1883-S $20 1884-O $36 1887 $36 These prices are from Coins magizine. How did i compare to your prices and grades? Thanks

Thanks for your replies guys...I really don't know much about grading coins, I bought these to kind of test myself...and the coin shop on their prices...I spent about 1/2 hour flipping through some of what they had and decided I'd pick 2 "cheap" ones, and 2 better ones...anyways, I don't know who did the grading written on them but here's what they had on them...

1883 XF - 16.00
1883s VF 35 - 18.00
1884o No Grade on it - 28.00
1887 MS61 - 28.00

fair prices?.....Like I said, I don't know enough to say..

ps..coinman, wish I could attempt to grade yours...but my opinion would be useless...

thanks again..

You paid a decent price, though as ungraded coins you could have gotten them a little cheaper from a private party. You'll always pay a premium when buying from coin shops.

The last 2 look like "Proof Like" coins to me.

I'd say get the last 2 graded for sure.

It's hard to tell, but the first one looks like it has been cleaned. Be careful with old silver dollars. It's insane how many have been cleaned. A cleaned coin may be shiny, but it doesn't have contrast or true luster.

might have you pick me up a couple next payday ;D

1883 VF cleaned $13
1883 S VF $15
1884 O Unc $20-$25
1887 AU cleaned $13

All are common dates. I wouldn't pay more than silver value for any common date cleaned coin. I sold a PCGS slabbed MS-63 1884-O on Ebay for $40.00 not to long ago.
