Hi all, Last 10 days i have been deep in the forrest , hunting out mine and tailing dumps in real junky areas. Theres only about 4 inches of mulch and top soil and then you hit the clay. All modern rubbish from about 80 years ago is found in top 4 inches. So a simple scrape of surface removes this junk and then if the signal is still there you have relics and gold .Always in the clay pan. This reduces the amount of holes i have to dig using a P1 unit. I have a massive depth advantage and i can legally dig to 5 feet in the forrest.I mostly use a 12 inch mono coil and lose a bit of depth but the refinement of a smaller coil gives up the smaller gold. most targets with this coil are about 20 inches.
Vlf units have been hitting these grounds i hunt for 30 years but with a gpx refinement i clearly still get what is missed by other units. Remember a GPX units are designed for my ground conditions which is heavy mineralized ground, so i don,t know how they would go in other ground conditions.Seen plenty of opinions gpx units made on TN and found some of very them interesting.I have spent 17 months using a GPX and theres still much to learn. heres the finds

That 12 inch mono coil is worth about 1,800 right now!.....Do you think I'm kidding? http://cgi.ebay.com.au/MINELAB-COMM...BSI&its=I&itu=UCI%2BUA%2BUCK&otn=10&po=&ps=63 It is.
The gold rush in Africa has made the GPX's and accessories a very hot commodity.
I have 200 of those coils on back order for 2 months already!
Gold rush in Africa you all say? It's rumored the nuggets that are being dug are KILO sized.

I have been waiting for the remainder of my 150 gp'xs since July of last year.
So when you say the Minelab GPX 4500 is worth every penny.....Your darn right it is!

Yep, Tinpan, I thinks you have the right detector. :icon_pirat: You are doing a job on that gold. It is so pretty,
and especially when still in the rock. Can't get better than that.

Now that's a really pretty picture, something to drool over while eating my breakfast. :icon_thumright:

Veronasteve, I think Tinpan lives in Australia. No Indians there, at least I haven't come across any yet.
