I cant comprehend their prices
I found them in my new National Geographic Magazine selling "American Revolution" coins for 49.95 ea plus shipping
whats your thoughts on this?
"Congress chose this silver dollar as our first legal tender"
49 bucks?

The picture looks like a sea-salvaged 8 Real of Mexico in very poor condition. The coin lists for about 35 dollars in good condition, which does not apply to corroded coins.

The bit about being chosen as the first dollar is hooey... Please correct me if I am wrong, but Congress did not pass any law saying that this particular coin was legal tender. The government merely allowed its circulation because none were being produced domestically. The Red book lists an earlier style as the first silver dollar circulating in the americas... it is called the Pillar dollar, and was made prior to 1771.

I have found better condition coins of the same type for sale for less, but they are becoming less and less common.
