old see the church key (hole punched in the can by an " opener" ) style of opening ? and the fact its a seamed can -- thus its 1950's or earlier ----(maybe part of 1950's a bomb shealter survival kits or WW2 war ration stuff) -- ah ha !!!-- according to the website "olive drab" your can is WW2 era *** theres even a "photo" of a can just like it . solved !

These are identical to the ones that were still used in U.S. Army/USAF aircraft survival kits a little over 10 years ago. The cans were inspected and unless they were rusted or past the "unusable date" they were repacked. A can opener was part of kit.

These were also part of the old "C-Rats" or Canned Rations that we used to have in the military before the days of MRE's (Meals ready to eat) cam along. they can still be found in the SOLAS (Safety of Life At Sea) packs in life boats used today.

the photo of the emergancy water can at the surplus site "olive drab" is a exact match -- the site says its a WW2 can
