Anybody have any gouges out there?I'm trying to come up with the geographic range of these tools.here in maine they were used for dugouts and the construction of fish weirs.the sebasticook fish weir site in newport maine has had posts from the weir studied.some were sharpened with gouges(earlier) and later some were shown to be sharpened with stone axes.this represents thousands of years of weir construction.
