Well I went out today and found a few. 4 hours hunting and 3 hours cleaning and checking every piece and sorting them. Sure is more fun finding them 8-). No points though just scrapers, knifes, cores, hammer stones and of course brokes and flakes. Still had fun!
The last pic shows some of this months finds. I have another tub not in that pic. My chip and broke jar is filling up quick.

Nice Rock. Is that black piece in your 4th picture flat on the bottom? Niece pieces and a good day to be out. :)

yes its flat. The next to last I believe is a hammer. If not then a core. The Tan one I think is a round nose knife, would of been hafted on the pointy end. There are some other nice tools in that mix but I couldnt get good pics of them due to the black shinny color of the stone. Most I find out there has a shaft scraper built into them. Found these in a new spot by the creek. Got me a new camp to explore.

You were talking about "like" tools from different areas. Want to see one almost just like yours?

3rd image-nice scraper

That one was showing about a quarter of an inch through the clay. I had a flipping stick but earlier in the day I was looking at the ditch they dug and used it to lean over so I could see the bottom and it broke in the middle and I almost fell in! It would of been a 20 ft fall if I had fell into it. I grabbed a tree before I fell. Anyway so I had to use my back up to pop it. I use a flat head screwdriver. You have to go slow as to not chip or break them. It popped rite out and I was really shocked as the size was quite large. It is a round nosed knife. I dont find them too often and it was a good score.

That's what I call them too. Nice find Rock.

Looks real close even the same type of stone. Is yours flat on the back? Mine has the shape of a foot almost. But I know it isnt a foot. lol

Yep sure is. They are an easy item to miss that is for sure. Has that little extra work along the base that gives it away. Pouring the rain here,,,,

Cool then it is a humpback scraper then. I would of missed it the way it was laying in the leaves if I didnt pick up every piece that lays around. It looked just like a rock. Yours is much finer defined as to the secondary flaking. Mine looks resharpened to a nub and they probably just threw it away. I did want to ask if there is anyway to know when Humpback scrapers were used as to the period? I think I read where they were more of a early tool?

gotta go get some elmers glue and put your stick back together

LOL thanks Larson. I will be on the lookout for a new one in the woods. I will have to take my camera next time I am out there so you guys can see that ditch. I dont know who made it but it is 20 ft deep in some places. It goes all the way to the creek and runs about a mile to the field across the street where I dont have permission to hunt. Too bad cause it might be a ancient run off for farming. So the water would leave the field but I dont know. Strange and I dont see where they put the dirt unless they used it where the house is built on a cool looking hill across the street. Again where I dont have permission to be......yet!
