Got the F70

Hey Canman, I just got my F70 as well, but my understanding is the threshhold sets the preamp level of the received signal. You want to run this a high as you can without chattering (at zero or higher if conditions allow). I've found that at my home, there is so much EMI from computers, WiFi etc. that I can only run threshhold at -2 and sens at 65 or lower without the machine going nuts. I'm sure in a more electrically quiet area I could crank the sens and threshhold up. I found that my F70 still airtests to scary depths even with the sens turned down to 40 or so and the thresh. set at -3.

think of the threshold as just another sensitivity control.

The F70 made it today .I had about a hour outside to work with it .The only setting that I think I do not have right is the threshold. Can someone tell me how to adjust it .I just do not think I have it right.

When in wide open areas where EMI and targets are sparse, you can crank it for increased sensitivity and depth. In area where targets are thick (like parks where zillions of tiny pieces of foil are a problem), you can turn the threshold down to help deal with these undesireable targets. The threshold is not a preamp gain control, but a threshold control, just like the name implies.
leave at the default setting till you get the feel for the machine (or even a bit lower), and after you gain some confidance try different settings on known targets to see how it affects performance. too many guys try to run full tilt out of the box before they really get the chance to learn a machine. take your time and get the feel of it first. Streak!

Thanks I started playing with the setting right away .I done the reset ,went outside GB and started finding cones right away ,where I had used 2 other machines.I thought that area had been hunted out.Can not wait till I get the feel of the F70 and get to start working with the setting.

It must be the season for F-70 purchases. Likewise I can't wait to find all of the coins I have been missing.

I have seen a lot of people buying the F70 lately.Hunt it in preset right out of the box.I'm afraid it going to be a coin beast, but that is just fine with me . :headbang:

IMO, maybe one of the better second-tier rigs in the market and a great buy for the money. Get your digging tools honed!
