About a month ago I picked up $350 in hand rolls from a bank near where I work. When I got them I saw that they had the same persons three initials on all of the rolls. I thought to myself "this could be really good or really bad". It turned out to be really bad. All skunks.
Funny thing is I guess you could say the coins were marked without ever being written on - every coin was placed in the roll with the same side up. Someone went to a lot of effort to place them in the roll exactly how you look at them. I could open a roll with my eyes closed, place them all on the table, open my eyes and they would be all alike. It made date checking a lot easier - no need to flip any over, but it is not fun checking what you know will turn out to be duds.
I picked up $450 in hand rolled quarters yesterday from my bank...
My bank manager told me some guy brought them in as he was saving up for vacation...I told her yeah right...you just got dumped on! Haha
I took them anyways...
Not only did I get skunked (which isnt hard to do with quarters), I got shorted 60 cents...there was a nickel in 3 different rolls replacing the quarters.
Im wondering if it was by accident or if a CRH'er really did short them with a few quarters.
I picked up $940.00 in halves two weeks ago from the local credit union branch. The teller told me that an elderly gentleman turned them in earlier that week. Boy howdy, did the adrenaline start pumping! All that anticipation and not one silver half in the bunch! I will say this, though. I did not get shorted. Every single roll was complete. On the brighter side, I picked up a roll of Eisenhower dollars; mostly Bicentennial coins, from another branch.
