Watercolor & I hit the woods again for a last chance hunt before the weather turns snotty again. I thought I'd post my finds even though there's no coins, because it's all I've got. It was a pretty uneventful hunt - lots of bottle caps & foil. Then, out in the middle of nowhere, I got a good high tone. I dug a plug and out popped this little square green bottle. A cool find to me. Turns out the high tone was a rusty piece of curved metal that was under the bottle. I wonder how many nice bottles we walk right over without knowing they're there...
A bit later, still in the sticks, I dot a deep signal that I decided to explore. It was a 45-70 cal. bullet about eight inches deep. Then my phone rang. It was Mark saying that he found what looks like an area people had camped in - he was digging pocket knives and forks & spoons. Running out of time to hunt, I went over to his location. The place was loaded with the stuff of camping - aluminum cups & plates, tableware, mason jars, etc. My second signal was a spoon, just under the surface. It was caked in mud because this was a low area. I put it in my bag and we soon had to leave. I had some commitments, and didn't get to clean it until later. It turns out that the spoon was my nicest find of the day. Looks like someone raided the silver drawer for their campout, or someone had a fancy picnic there a while ago.
Well, here's hoping the weather cooperates and everyone can get back out there soon!
