So about 3 weeks ago I decided I was going to try the grass on the other side of the fence, (since everyone always says it is so much greener) and I traded my M6 with a fellow on here for an Omega 8000. Worst decision I have ever made. After a couple hunts with the Omega and finding more junk that rang up as good targets than I ever had with the M6 I asked the guy for a return trade. He agreed and I paid the return shipping for both.
Finally got it back today. :hello2: I have felt like a fish out of water without that machine. I don't know what I was thinking! I had only had it about 4-5 months and had found some 40 silver coins while hunting a couple days a week along with some other great artifacts.
I love this machine. I got to know it very well and felt extremely confident knocking on strangers doors and asking permission to hunt their yard knowing that I wasn't going to have to destroy their yard looking for the goodies.
I have it back and needless to say I won't ever be trading it again. If I want to try out another machine I will just save up for a long time and buy one.

P.S. As soon as I got it put back together I ran outside the door of my apartment and dug the very first signal I heard. An old, rusty screw cap. The prettiest one I've ever seen. ;D

I had the total opposite experience. I think the M6 is a pile of steaming feces. I bet the Omega outsells that heap 3 to 1. I remember when I bought it people told me I'd probably have to buy the smaller coil for it because the stock coil was junk. I honestly never used a detector so bad. I'd take a Bounty Hunter over that but I'm glad to see someone likes it.

While look at that ..... Two complete opposite view's on the M6 ...... Who do we think is right. ???????????????? Buit remember what ever brand of detector and what ever model.......... You will always find opposite view's........ For if we all liked the same thing there would only be one brand and one model of detector for every one..............

Coinstriking: Maybe you did have a faulty unit? I am not going to be one of those people to say that the M6 will beat every other unit out there, because I know it won't. I did take the omega and another unit to a couple sites I had pounded with the M6 and didn't find anything else other than junk.

Keppy: You are right on! There is no perfect unit for everyone. I'm still excited to try out other units, but I will NEVER go that long without a metal detector. Man talk about torture on those beautiful days we have been having here in TN.

It's very possible it was a faulty unit. Maybe I'll get a chance to try another one sometime and compare. One thing I remember about it was I could turn the disc all the way up and it would still sound off on pulltabs and foil...really low vdi numbers. It would be a boring if everyone used the same thing :icon_thumright:

read the reviews on the m6.. seems most people that use them like them you may have had a faulty unit.. ive rarely ever had a faulty metal detector since ive been in this hobby,1978..but having 3 of the 4 teknetics i had be faulty i wont own another.garrett, tesoro whites have all been pretty solid. first texas or the big 3,bounty hunter, fisher and teknetics are ok.. all the parts they sent me for my teknetics detectors came in a bounty hunter package. that made me feel like i had spent all that money on a bounty hunter.

The guy who traded for the M6 seemed quite happy to return it so perhaps he prefered the Omega ? Could be that neither party put the time in to learn the "new" detector.

I don't think he was exactly happy to return the M6. To make it short some things had occurred during the transaction that made me question the trade. He said if I was not totally happy that he would do a return trade. So I took him up on it.

Hey Chris! Yeah.... I learned my lesson. I have dug some low signals, but still no gold with it yet. Since I got it back I have been making it a point to dig all solid repeatable signals. I found my first War Nickel the other day, and then about 10 minutes later I found my second. Sweet!

The m6 is a simplified MXT. A great coin and beach hunter. Most people can't deal with the 7 tones especially in trashy areas. Yet they also don't like the single beep beep. If you bury several silver quarters at different depths from 2 inches to 10 inches you will get different VDIs. It's the same with any unit. I have only had mine for 2 months and loving it. I have used many many detectors, just trying different brands and models. I now have 5 different land machines and the only two I use are the Fisher CZ5 and the m6. I had the Fisher F-75 SE and couldn't use it to hunt old home sites and sidewalks because it was just to sensitive even at low sensitivity to all the power lines whether overhead or buried. Different strokes for different folks.

ford--chevy,its all in what each person likes and or knows, as long as you are happy then get to dirt fish'n!!
