Got back out yesterday with my cousin to the spot where I dug the breastplate back in the spring. I got into a small colonial spot and dug my first Spanish Silver! Four flat buttons and some pieces to a pewter cup or bowl. I also got 6 three ringers and a very nice GS Eagle button. The Indian head is a 1907. Had a blast yesterday and a big thanks to my cousin for letting me go with him. Thanks for looking and HH!

Looks like you had an awesome time there Flyenryan, funny you and I both dug Spanish half reales and a 1907 coin this weekend. Congrats.
I really like the key there as well,
ZDD
edit: were you using the ATP as well?

Thanks. Yes I was using the ATPro. It picked out the brass ring on the key perfectly. It never gave a tone of there being iron in the hole as well!!

Lots of great finds there F2!!! Congrats on your first Spanish-I'll bet it won't be your last. HH, Q.

Very nice recoveries. High 5 on your first Spanish silver. :occasion14:

IMO, your 1/2 real Spanish coin is from Potosi, Peru, during the reign of Carlos IIII (as shown, versus IV). That would place it in the range of 1791-1809.
The original weight was 1.67 oz and is composed of .903 pure silver (17mm). If you can ever read the assayer's initials, PR (1791-1795); PP (1795 to 1802) and PJ thereafter.

Mine looks like has an M mark on the back for Mexico. Where would the other markings be located so I could try to make them out? Thanks.

If it turns out to be Mexican, (and I'll continue to assume it's Carlos "IIII" vs "IV" or "III"), then it was minted between 1790 and 1808. The assayer's initials through 1801 were 'FM'; thereafter, 'TH'. Retail values in VG would be about $10 in the earlier years and $4-8 after 1800.

Nice going on the silver Ryan. That's a nice looking decorated tombac as well.
