Garrett received it on Friday and I got it back today. I see they changed the foam handle (there was nothing wrong with the foam handle). There was no information as to what else was done to it. The AT Pro was unresponsive in the water, I hope they didn't just bless it, wish it well and sent it back to me in a different box.:dontknow:
It'll be a couple of weeks before I can get back to the fresh water beach. I sure hope that portion of it was attended to.

Test it out in your bathtub...

Send them an e-mail and ask what they did - they are pretty responsive to e-mails.

Thanks, I'll do that right now!

Good luck with it, im sure it was missed

I just checked my email, and I got this from Garrett.:icon_thumright:
"It has gone through several different test after being taken apart, cleaned, checked and put back together. After that it was calibrated and a new handle grip was put on. Then it was sent to the QC Dept and checked again and made sure the coil was talking to the unit correctly. Hope this helps that is all the information I have on the unit. Happy HUNTING!!:occasion14:

Sounds like a new machine to me....Good Luck HH.

It sounds to me like they didn't find anything wrong with it. No parts replaced except the grip. Unless somehow it became that far out of calibration some how.

You're probably right.
There is always a range of acceptance on any adjustments made to Electronics. I've been out of the electronic field for a very long time, but I would guess even the newer technology should be field tested for max performance.

Field testing each machine would probably render them affordable, at least to me. So I in no way expect them to do that.

When I spoke to the lady rep on the phone,(the first time I called) she told me that this (sensitivity very reduced in fresh water) was the first time they had ever heard of it.
It wasn't the first time I heard of it.

The machine hunts fine on land, if it doesn't do well in the water, I'll probably get a Tesoro as I have blown my budget on the Deus! My plans were either the CZ-21 or the Excalibur, but that has went to the back burner.

Hi Roy,
It will be interesting on what you find the next time you use it. I would imagine its been calibrated the best an AT could possibly be now. You may be very satisfied with the fix! Please let us know how it works! I'm an EET and when I see no parts replaced on a repair I'm always a bit disappointed, but maybe it was just way out of spec from the factory. Good luck!

Thanks Rob!
