In the beginning March I got permission to dig around a stone building that was a tavern or ordinary in the 1700's. No one has lived in the building since at least the early 70's and it is usually so grown up you can't get near it. Thanks to the heavy snow I was able to dig around it. The place is trashy and hard to hunt. The first time I went in I got a lead soldier, a rough 1850's large cent and an eagle I button. Not anywhere near as much as I was expecting and I have been wanting to hit it again. I did not have a chance until yesterday. It has already started growing up again and again I didn't dig near what I had hoped. I got a couple wheat pennies, a brass boot tap, a brass key to a railroad lock and a US buckle. The buckle is civil war but a late war buckle as it has the small keeper hook and the lead filling is thin.
