ok so i'm in ….. got the nerve to buy a deus yesterday sold the ctx3030 and coil had enough to get me a brand new deus with two coils 9-11" and vance headphones also backbone … nothing bad about the ctx just had a bad feeling about it … i couldn't see the screen ,i have green eyes and they hate the sun so glasses are a must and i just couldn't see the dang screen also they lie its not waterproof unless u take things apart and then it still might leak…peoples coils not working all the time etc…... just had one of them feelings……. i do have a v3i and excalibur that i do love … so i'm hope this machine will live up to the hipe ….. i'm afraid of the vdi numbers not working right sound is great but it helps when you are on a quarters day to dig just quarters or dimes or silver or gold … just got the buyer remorse hopping i did the right thing….. i know its gonna take some time …..it took me a month to get the ctx in my head … got to get me a gold bug 2 now and i'll be ready for everything i hope….. there just so many mixed reviews …just a sound machine jumpy numbers … good numbers great sound … just hope i did right its a lot of money for this old man …… LOL ……

Welcome aboard the Deus bandwagon! I got mine back in June and I now have over 300 hours on it. It is a wonderful machine and a true pleasure to swing. I'd like to share some helpful advice I received when I got my Deus. I was told to stay in Basic 1 the first few weeks and 'Dig to learn' the repeatable signals. I was also told to switch to Deus Fast when in a really trashy site. I ended up digging a mountain of trash the first month but I learned how the targets sounded and registered on my VDI in my dirt. It is also very important for depth that you GB your Deus; I personally would run it in Tracking mode unless in severe trash. When ground balanced properly, with the 11" coil my Deus is surprisingly deep and the VDI is quite accurate down to 6 to 7" deep on dime sized targets.

Hopefully a Deus user with more experience than I can add to my comments.

Best of luck to you,
Duke

I have been watching the Deus for some time. Still waiting to take the deep water plunge. I have my Garrett 350 which is decent for a machine. I just hate wires!!!!!

I have an AT Pro, and when I get my Deus, the ATP will become my freshwater-only machine. Its pretty darn good for that. The Deus will be my land machine. I also hate wires, and my philosophy is this: This hobby is supposed to be enjoyable, so why not spend the cash to enjoy my hobby more? I'll be paying off my 2011 F150 in December, and January there will be a new Deus on my doorstep, by gosh!

Congrats on the XP DEUS! Love that detector!
