Went back to my Confederate site that I've renamed "buckshot valley". I went to this site just the other day and dug 2 flower buttons, 17 musket balls and 50 buckshot. I found an area where the buckshot are so concentrated I literally get tired of digging them, hence the new name. Got tired of digging them today again and moved on. I'm sure glad I did for not more than 50 yds away I dug my 4th Confederate button of the year. When I dug it I immediately saw the lined "I" but it wasn't until I got home and carefully removed the caked dirt from the back that I noticed it had a floating shank. I have seen this variant before but never dug one until today. It is a P Tait and Co. lined I. A very tight button to say the least. This one came from overseas and came through the blockade. It definitely made my day :headbang:!!! Other finds included 2 musketballs and numerous buckshot, as well as a beautiful set of cufflinks with a stone setting. Also found an early flat button with a really crude shank. Will post an update later on with the cleaned button! It was another gorgeous day to dig with temperatures reaching the mid 60's. And to think it snowed just 2 days ago! Crazy Virginia weather. HH Devonrex

It was a P Tait & Co. Lined I with the floating shank. :hello2: :headbang: :hello2: The cufflinks turned out to be silver as well!!! A very nice surprise. The stone appears to be garnet. Anybody know what date these might be from? HH Devonrex
