...looks pretty tender. Do you know how to preserve? I need to learn about.
You should tell the story from the book, chapter 30 couple down, the stage driver and the arrowhead...
 

Trying to decide which way to go.
with the thin metal if I go apple cider vinegar i may end up with Swiss cheese thinking about just going with evapo rust which won’t totally remove the rust but it will convert what it doesn’t remove into a black inert rust, then either a dip in some gun oil or possibly a thin coat of rust preventative spray paint.

To clarify a bit… the apple cider vinegar won’t hurt good metal but if it has rusted through then it will eat all the rust leaving holes.
This pocket knife for example, I thought I’d clean it up and maybe get it useable but once the rust was removed the blade was Swiss cheese
