Again, someone on another forum I frequent found something that nobody can come up with information on. I'll post his picture as well as the description he left for it.

I told him I would post it here, but suggested he get a few more pictures from different angles and in different lighting to try to clarify the letters/numbers on the tag. Some guesses on the other forum are: foreign military tag or slave tag. I don't think it's a slave tag, but the military tag has some possibilities. Just thought I'd give it a try here and see if one of you can help him out.

Thanks.

"FOUND THIS TAG ON THE MA. SEA COAST,HIGH WATER MARK,TAG IS LITTLE BIGGER THEN A QUARTER,HAS GRAY COLOR,COULD BE SLIVER OR PREWTER.TAG WAS FOUND NEAR A SINKING OF A PIRATES SHIP,OVER 200 YEARS AGO,ANY CLUE THANKS' AL. ALSWAY"

Oh - he also mentioned in another post on the subject that he believes he found some other things near there that date to the 1700's, although he didn't clarify what the relics were.

Thanks again and if you have questions, let me know and I'll pass them along as well

It's a tag for an Liquid Propane Gas pipeline. My guess is that "SEC." is an abreviation for "Secondary". "LPG" is the abreviation for Liquid Propane Gas. The tag identifies either a secondary LPG gas pipeline or secondary shutoff valve for LPG.

Ahhh, you pretty certain of that? Now that I look at it, I could see the last 3 letters on top being LPG - quick response from you, so I get the feeling you've either found these before or seen them.

I've found a lot of utility and line tags, but that's the first LPG tag I've seen.
