That looks like a lag bolt anchor. Search "lag bolt anchor" on the web and you will get all the details.

Doesn't look like there is enough lip on the barb to hold a nut securely to me.
I'm going for the anchor thing.
That's my story and i am sticking to it!!! :dontknow:

Hello all. Thanks for the replies. I do not think this item is an anchor. The ID is too big at 3/4-IN and the ID is not tapered as an anchor should be.

It could be a hose barb but as with the ID the OD is not tapered as a hose barb should be.

So far I have to consider this one "un-solved".

Lag bolt anchors are lead. The item is brass.

It doesnt have to be tapered. I dont recall ever seeing a tapered fitting unless its to fit more than one hose size. This fitting is made to fit one specific hose size and clamped. A hose clamp is used with it.

A nut doesnt need much lip.

Im only 98% convinced but I dont know what else it could be. Its not a lead lag bolt anchor for sure.

I like the hose barb idea but it's too big for a garden hose and too small for a fire hose so it's probably from a hydraulic hose off equipment or machinery. It may have been part of a swedged fitting that's missing the outer shell.
