Thought this might be a good thread for the new trommel section! This is not my setup rather I saw an article in gold prospector magazine that I thought was worth sharing where this handy do it yourself lightweight hand trommel was constructed. Very cool imo..

I have an idea for that bucket trommel. Instead of feeding water into it by hand, there's a water pump you can get that's drill powered... I'd integrate the pump into the cranking handle, pump water AND rotate the material simultaneously

First impression of trommel workings is you guys don't fart around when it comes to mining and moving dirt. Right on and I sure respect your style!

Here's mine.

Here's mine with custom trommel/sluice filled with GoldHog matting. Yep everyone of the 1434 holes were drilled by hand twice by me!!! First each hole was center punched using a template then a pilot hole of 1/8" was drilled followed by a 1/2" step drill bit. Cylinder was rolled from 1/8" flat plate, no expanded metal mesh. The entire trommel was powdered coated.

Here's my $50.00 trommel I need to finish it. Between this and a dredge and a mini track hoe that I still need to get. I should have it covered in this Glacier till. The trommel is 3'x 9'

wash plant 4 - Copy.jpg

The side chute for the oversize off the grizzly is missing in this shot.
Have made numerous modifications since it's maiden voyage.

This plant feeds a large format fluid bed that runs off a 2 inch pump.
Unfortunately, lost most of my pics in a computer crash.

This is the solid model of the 2 foot wide fluid bed.

The first pic of the trommel looks some what unclear to me as how the gravel works it's way from the feed hopper to the barrel? it looks like a material mover machine, though.

The 4 inch minus from the grizzly runs down the oscillating chute and is split left/right to feed each trommel.
It runs about 25 yards per hour.

The goal on this build was to pack as much wash plant onto a 4 foot x 8 foot trailer and weigh less than 1500 lbs.
