Hey gang. Hit one of my older spots today. This place never fails. 99% of the time I snag something out of it. However, the signals are becoming far and few in-between. Methinks I'm gonna have to hit the drawing board again and find some new honey-holes
Anyway, today was B-R-U-T-A-L. Searing heat once again here in NJ. No sizable rain in what seems like ages (we already have water conservation alerts) and the ground is like going through concrete.
I put in a four and a half hour hunt. I only managed to snag two keepers. One of which I need your help on. I got the spoon early in the hunt. I believe it's early 1900's according to my research. Made by the "Rogers Co." They were THE silverware company back in the day. Very collectible stuff online, however, not in the condition I found it
My only other keeper of the day was a button. I am NOT a button guy, so, any thoughts on what it is and the age is appreciated. It actually range up as a solid 15 on my Safari. Which is the pulltab range. It was probably an inch or two tops. I actually thought it was a flattened wine screw top at first and almost chucked it. It feels to be either aluminum, tin or something along those lines. I cannot make out anything on the back since it's all corroded as you'll see in the pics. The shank is also broken. It has a nice green patina on it, so, definitely been in the ground for a while. There is an anchor in a circle with little dots or slashes surrounding the circle.
Since it looks like bye-bye to this spot for now, thought I'd show you some of what I got out of this beauty of a park on my many outings there.
Enjoy
