Don't find a lot of gold. Bought the ATPro this spring with the intention that I was going to change that. Loaded up about a 2 1/2 gallon bucket with pull tabs from the park and never did find any gold.
Today I went back to the lot of the razed house, where I had some luck last week. One of the gentlemen that I had met out there last week, again happened to be detecting when I arrived. Asked him if he minded if I joined him. "Not at all!" He let me know that he had found a silver dime and an IHP. So I didn't get it all last week...as would be expected. I told him I probably wouldn't find any Indian Heads because they ring in the mid tones and with all the garbage on the site, I just wouldn't pay much attention to one of those signals. He said "Well you should, that's where you find the good stuff!". I knew he was right even though I had 2 1/2 gallons of pull tabs that said he was wrong. Not ten minutes later, I got a solid pull tab signal...and dug it. "Uh, dude! I think I found something good!".
It was a signet style ring and I could tell it was gold as soon as it came out of the ground. First gold of 2014!
Unfortunately, as you can see, the ring is damaged (not by me, however). No maker's mark. Maker's marks were required by law starting 1961, so pretty sure this is an antique. Also the purity mark just says 10. No "k". Not sure if that helps date it, but if anyone knows, please chime in.
Other finds...
Camel pendant (pewter?).
Button (military?)
Judging by the clasp on the back of this, I would say it was a pin. Not very malleable, so I didn't try to bend it back to straight.
Todays finds...
10K Gold Signet Ring
Pewter? Camel Pendant
Military Button?
Pin(?) with cabin scene.
