Metal Detecting
Don't find a lot of gold. Bought the ATPro this spring with the intention that I was going to change that. Loaded up about a 2 1/2 gallon bucket with pull tabs from the park and never did find any gold.

Today I went back to the lot of the razed house, where I had some luck last week. One of the gentlemen that I had met out there last week, again happened to be detecting when I arrived. Asked him if he minded if I joined him. "Not at all!" He let me know that he had found a silver dime and an IHP. So I didn't get it all last week...as would be expected. I told him I probably wouldn't find any Indian Heads because they ring in the mid tones and with all the garbage on the site, I just wouldn't pay much attention to one of those signals. He said "Well you should, that's where you find the good stuff!". I knew he was right even though I had 2 1/2 gallons of pull tabs that said he was wrong.:laughing7: Not ten minutes later, I got a solid pull tab signal...and dug it. "Uh, dude! I think I found something good!".

It was a signet style ring and I could tell it was gold as soon as it came out of the ground:occasion14:. First gold of 2014!:headbang:

Unfortunately, as you can see, the ring is damaged (not by me, however). No maker's mark. Maker's marks were required by law starting 1961, so pretty sure this is an antique. Also the purity mark just says 10. No "k". Not sure if that helps date it, but if anyone knows, please chime in.

Other finds...

110114Camel.jpg

Camel pendant (pewter?).

110114Button.jpg

Button (military?)

Judging by the clasp on the back of this, I would say it was a pin. Not very malleable, so I didn't try to bend it back to straight.

Todays finds...

10K Gold Signet Ring
Pewter? Camel Pendant
Military Button?
Pin(?) with cabin scene.

Nice finds :icon_thumright:

can you post a pic of the stamp?

It's in the pic' with the paper clip. You may have to click on it to enlarge so that you can see it.

You need to have it tested, the 10 could also be a ring size ! :dontknow:

Keep @ it and HH ! :hello2:

Congrads .. Very Nice gold ring!!

I find a few signet rings, yours looks early 1900's.. my guess..

Last gold signet I found, Notice the stamp is behind the main body and in a square, stamped 14 only. The copper patina is from the Chesapeake Bay water.

Great finds.
Nothin' better than gold in the hole.
I was gonna' hunt after work today but it was raining, windy as heck and COLD. No gold for me today or anything else for that matter.

Congrats on a great old ring. I'm happy your ATP sniffed it out for you. After all of those pull tabs, you HAD to hit gold eventually right??
Looks like it was worth the wait to me.

Great find, what did the Old Man say?:laughing7:

Kept tellin' me "Great find". Not perturbed at all. Nice guy! We bantered about other great finds all afternoon.
