Spent $15.00 on a jar of jewelry because it had some old cufflinks and odd pieces of jewelry. It had a two 14K gold charms and a 14K gold and lapis(?) hat pin. The pin has "1806" etched on the back as well as initials "G.E.S. 6-27-14". The other stuff has G.E.S. Jr stuff, so I'm sure the pin was the father.

Then I bid $16.00 on a small ashtray of old cufflinks. I didn't look at them, just hoped to get a decent pair in the jar. Ended up with a single cufflink and a matching money clip "JPR". The are handmade and weigh almost 20 grams together. They are marked 14k but I don't trust my acid so much. I'll have to take them somewhere and get them tested.

Wow! Goodwill? That never happens there anymore. Great eye!

I remember the horn pendants were "hot" in the '80's. Nice finds!

I forgot...I bought another jar a couple days before and it contained a sterling silver bracelet...and this for $19.99:
ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1461549749.291568.jpg I sold it quick and cheap on eBay for $300.00. It still sells at Kay Jewelers:

I feel like JimDon this week!!!

How can you look at the jars they have and tell there's something good in it?

You just hold them up and rotate them around. Out of the 50+ jars I have purchased, I only spotted gold maybe 5 times. I look for something that is worth the price of the jar and hope for even better stuff. Good costume jewelry is easy to spot along with all kinds of watches. If there are a couple Swatch watches and some random jewelry for $19.99, I'll take a chance. It's gambling, but I usually will come out at least even...if I sell the stuff. I've sold and given away POUNDS of random jewelry and still have lots! Not to mention recycling lots of glass jars.

BTW, they told me this week that the person that does the jewelry won't let anyone else do it and takes hours going through it to put the best stuff in the auction. It just shows that no one catches everything.

Good to know. They reminded me of bullhorns but I pictured cheerleader horns for some reason.

Same at mine. I won't tell you all the stuff she misses.
