Good Will no.3 fireman's Metal to be returned and put in a Fire House Museum.

I did a post yesterday with a item that people went back and forth over watch fob or fireman's metal. Well I did some more research and It was found to be a fireman's metal with only one other know to exist. After making a visit to the fireman's museum today and speaking with the fire chief we found one just like it on display. I told him my idea of having it put in a shadow box and donating it the museum and needless to say he was blow away at the idea.

The history of the metal is still up in the air. What we do believe at this point is it was given to a retired firefighter who was offered to come back to the firehouse as a guest for special events. I will update if and when I find more info about this metal. It is a good chance the local paper might do a story on the return and shed some positive light on the hobby of metal detecting.

Below is the link to the museum it will be going to for many people to look at and enjoy for years to come.

Donating stuff to museums is another way we as hobbyists can return to our communities and give MDing some good P.R.

Nice find, and nice job on the museum display. Wouldn't mind seeing that when it's done.

The museum is the right place for an item such as that to live. Excellent find and even better job offering it to the museum.

Brother that is right up the road from me, I grew up in that area, let me know when you return the item I want to go and see it. Because I love history and if it can be linked to a certain area or person that makes it even better, and all the more sweeter.

SC SLING... I am glad you finally found out what it actually was! It is also great that you will be donating it to the museum and hopefully a great story will be done to highlight the goods and not the bads that many see about our hobby. You must be very stoked to know that you found one of only two of these metals that are know to exist! Congrats, congrats, congrats!

John,

No problem as I should have the metal done and in a shadow box this week. I will be heading over to the Museum Sat to do the donation. You should make a visit to the museum just to see all the other great stuff they have on display. A find and return of a lifetime for me.
