You can come across used mxt's for around that price. Those are great machines.

Alright thanks guys ima tell my buddys an were guna decide

I'd buy a used MXT in good condition, you might even pick one up for $400.00 if your lucky and they have awesome depth. Depending what he had before I'm thinking this will be a nice upgrade and within no time he won't be missing the other detector. HH

I'm not sure which one he had but Dang he had bags full of rings an silver coins tokens he is definently a veteran at detecting. But yea mxt sounds nice!

something with a warranty is the way to go dont thank i would buy a used detector you get it home and hunt with it a few times and it quits working your out your money or ya have pay out the butt to get it fixed

That's true man

check out all the different metal detector dealers on line see what kind of deals you can get

I'd just test the detector to make sure it works, the good thing about whites is they will fix even the old detectors and it won't likely cost much. White's service is second to none so I wouldn't worry to much and the whites detectors are built like a tank. I would rather buy used and have an E-series detector and they have alot of coils for the E-series. HH

How did he break his detector. How about just sending it off to Whites for some repairs ?

Whites will repair a coinmaster 6 for $54.00 service charge plus parts will not go over $150.00 total.

mxt are sell under 500.00 on eBay all the time

While this may be an opportunity to upgrade him to either a high-end used unit, or a mid-range brand new one, if he really, really, really likes his detector, sending it in to White's for repair could be a very good way to go. It's doubtful you'll spend more than a couple hundred bucks to have his detector returned good as new.

get a used MXT for about 450 on CL and send both machines to Whites for service, The MXT to be looked at and maybe re calibrated and the XLT repaired, youll have a good backup and two machines for about 600 bucks running just like new

Count one more vote for a good used White's. I picked up a beautiful White's GMT for $500 this past weekend from a local seller on Craigslist. I was able to test it out before purchasing and it looks like new. I'm delighted to have it since I live in Sacramento, close to the gold fields of California.
