Got out of work early and started at a local fairgrounds where I've found a couple silvers in the past - After 2 hours it produced the usual junk and a few clad quarters (it's been hit hard). I decided to move onto door knocking.

The first house I got permission at was odd. I use the CTX3030 and usually when I'm using Auto +3 sensitivity it sits at about 22-25 sensitivity but at this house it was sitting at around 15 sensitivity which won't pick up a coin past 4". I couldn't get any sort of signal that was diggable. I tried using manual sensitivity to get some more depth but it was too noisy. Tried noise canceling and ground balancing and that didn't work so I decided to move on.

I headed to a tiny town to talk to a guy that I talked to years ago about metal detecting the church. He said he would bring it up in the next church board meeting and get back to me...but he never got back to me so I decided to pay him another visit. I talked to him for a while and he was telling me about all of the places I could go around town. It was actually very helpful for future endeavors but I wanted to detect the church so I brought it up again. We talked about the church and how they were doing work on it a while back and while they were digging they ran into 2 other foundations so there were 2 churches there previously. Anyway he said, "You know what just go detect it and if anyone gives you any grief just tell them Chuck said you could!" Chuck and I chuckled, I shook his hand, and off to the church I went.

Started in the lawn way back behind the church...nothing but chunks of foil. Got closer to the back of the church and ran into crazy amounts of iron (changed to 2-tone ferrous, open screen) and I started getting wheaties that were so toasted that you could barely tell they were wheaties(ground is kinda swampy). Swung under a little old apple tree at the corner of the church and got a slammin hit and out pops a 1942D Washington quarter. Started working the side of the church and couldn't get a good signal so I moved to the front of the church and got a couple more wheaties. Moved to the sidewalk and was working that for a while when I got a pretty iffy signal...the only goodish numbers I could get from the target was 1-33, 1-34. I changed back to 50 tones to see if it sounded different. I never would've dug that signal in 50-tone. 2 tone ferrous does wonders in high iron areas. Dug it and out popped a 1903 Barber quarter!

I don't have any pictures of the trash or wheaties I was just trying to get as much hunting in as I could before it got dark.
