Went out with a buddy today to a couple new spots. No silver yet but I did get some nice finds. Some lead pieces, a brass t-handle, small buckle, wheat penny (not pictured), a model T valve stem cover (thanks to Michael Bennett for the ID), and a 1883 V-nickel. Can't wait for nice weather to return!

Nice Finds! I Found 2 Of The Same Buckles.

Nice start to the year!

Nice v nickle. Congrats. Looking at the photo it looks like it could be an 1896 instead of an 1886. Or is it just me?

You know....my wife and myself went back and forth on that. Certain ways you look at it, it could go either way. I'm gonna have somebody check it out for me. I hope it is an 86 cause there's a bit of a difference in value. Oh well, its a cool find non the less.

Congrats on the V nickel, they are always cool to find although they can be in pretty bad shape sometimes.

Just an update. I took the coin to a couple different shops and they confirmed what I was afraid of. They both think its a 96. Better luck next time! lol

Cool finds. :icon_thumright: :hello2: Similar small buckles have been used on young girls' dress shoes for generations, such as patent leather shoes with a strap across top of foot. Maybe yours had same use. Andi
