Good Silver Day....Updated Roman Silver Cleaned..

:hello:

Not posted much of late, couple of reasons one being the weather and i'm getting used to a new machine, the XP Deus. Went back to a couple of the old fields today and managed to score a couple of nice Silver Coins. The first silver is a coin that I have only ever had once before, Henry V111 Groat, and sticking half out of the ground, love it when I find coins like this. Unfortunatly it was slightly broken, and later cam away in my pocket.

The Jetton came out the same way, half sticking out, only I picked this straight up thinking it was a Victorian penny :laughing7: After lunch I moved to one of my old Roman fields and took my second silver coin of the day, A nice Roman Denarius of Septimus Severus, well pitted and iron encrusted, but it should clean up, I wil try updating the cleaned coin at a later date. I will update the ID of the denarius later...have a look

Update on the denarius... Septimius Severus Denarius. Emesa mint, 194-195 AD. IMP CAE L SEP SEV PERT AVG COS II, laureate head right / SPQR OPTIMO PRINCIPI, emperor on horseback left, holding spear. RSC 652.

Well I don't know how many more good days to come, options are a bit on the thin side now.

Hi SS You dooooooooo find some old silver by anyone's standard. Very nice . Yet in times of Victoria i noticed not as much silver ? Considered a hedge throw or not many found?

Easy to loose hammered coins, milled a bit different....perhaps the pockets are better in Victorian times :laughing7: But I never throw any coin in the hedge row, silver or bronze.:icon_thumright:

It would have been, but the silver is slightly pitted. At least the hammered broke at the edge, so I should be able to repair it
