Just searching along, singing my CRH song, being happy that I actually had a box with 9 90's and 2 40's when out pops a 1925 Stone Mountain Memorial. Didn't even know they made them till that one came out.

It is old silver blackish in color but not a lot of wear that I can tell.

I gather that I should just leave it in the condition it is in and not remove the tarnish. Am I correct? Thanks.

Awesome find! You are right to leave it as is. Never want to clean any coin of value. That one's not worth a ton of money, but still very cool! I've done many a box & still haven't found a silver commem yet. Congrats!

Yeah Smitty! That is a sweet coin, congratulations, it's nice to see you back in the game. :hello2::hello2::hello2:
Never EVER clean a coin that has potential numismatic value such as your specimen, it will ruin the true value of the coin.
A stone mountain commemorative is a number one on my commemorative wish list, I love the design but can't bring myself to pay $50+ for a nicer one.
Thanks for sharing and keep on huntin'

Wow great find! I've never found a silver commem myself but I'd sure love to find one of those some day!

Am I the only one who read the thread title and thought someone pooped out a coin? smh

That is awesome, great job!!!

Amazing how one little "p" in the proper place would have made things more clear. Spelling 101. Sorry folks. Have to admit that pooped out would have been even more interesting, but no, that was not the case. (thank goodness)

This is probably way too much personal information and I haven't even thought of this in some time but the conversation on this thread reminds me of my mom telling me that when I was a baby one time when she was feeding me for some reason I pulled the wedding ring off her finger and swallowed it before she could stop me. Well she had to wait a couple of days to get that back. Oh, the things u remember...well I remember her telling me about that many times later when I was growing up anyway. :-[

Edit: now that I think of it I think maybe she told me she had taken her ring off for some reason and it was sitting on the table where I was able to reach it which was an obvious mistake. That seems a little more likely than me being able to take it off her finger when I was so young.

See that, you were a precious metal hunter from birth!

Beautiful!!

I love the stone mountain halves!

I broke down and bought one with CRH proceeds, for $37, real nice condition(the only numismatic value ive paid for silver)... then I found one 3 weeks later in a box, not as nice condition, but still a great coin!

Congrats

What does yours look like? I only ask because that's exactly what I paid for mine too, lol. :)

Lol....yeah I think it was just a plain gold wedding band ring which is probably good that it wasn't anything fancy with stones because that might have made it a little harder to digest. But you're right, I guess that proves I was just born with an insatiable desire for precious metals. :)
