Found this interesting item while metal detecting, although it's not made of metal - perhaps stone. It's about 1 1/4" long by 3/16" in diameter, a groove is cut at one end and it's pointed at the other. Found in an area known for Native American and early European occupation. I've already identified the one object as a nickel, but does anyone have an idea as to what the other object could be?

Ha! I found one while detecting today also. We talked about these the other day, they are "pencils" for writing on old slate boards. Your's looks like the one end was played with a little bit when the kid should have been studying. :D
