GOOD LUCK on Friday the 13th - Good & bad ***SOLVED***

I hit one of my old lunch spots briefly today and came up with this piece. It was under a layer of crumbling old asphalt then dirt as hard as concrete. During my chiseling extraction I nicked the darn thing. Bad luck? :'(
With the two large holes in the center I thought I had a very large button, then I thought rosette. :icon_scratch:
Now I don't know? ???
Info:
*Just over 1 1/2" in diameter.
*The piece has a brass front with lead filling.
*I can read "Good Luck" on the front.
*Two larger holes in the center with two tiny holes outside of those.
*Horseshoe and wishbone on the front. The horseshoe is upstarted. :o Bad luck? ;D

Any idea what this thing is, and hopefully the age?
Thanks for your help,
MM

Re: GOOD LUCK on Friday the 13th - Good & bad

The lead filling makes me think "bridle rosette" but the holes in the center look like they were added, and they make me think "concho."

So I think it was a rosette that was modified into a concho. That's my guess, and I'm sticking to it. Of course if the correct ID is either one or the other, I still get to be 50% right. :D

I would say it`s good luck for a friday the 13th find.
Just a guess at it`s age but 1851 or before considering it`s brass over lead.

Item #AHH102:

lead-filled rosettes still being made! I would guess 1920-40 or so on yours. But that's just a guess.

Regards,
Buckleboy

Thanks Buckles.
I wish I wouldn't have hit the darn thing with my shovel. I'm glad it wasn't a coin. ;D Ya gotta love Friday the 13th.
Neat find anyways. I had to work for it.

Oh yea...

I also wanted to add that I also think those center slots were added, like BuckleBoy stated... maybe it was something else when it was born. But it died a concho. :tard:

Umm.....I see a concho....but I also see a whizzer or a buzzsaw. I've made plenty of them in my day.

That was before we had computers, television, radio, electricity, wheels, and fire. ::) ::)

LMAO!!! ;D ;D ;D
Mona,
I remember those whizzers too. I also used to make "exploded" throwing stars out of four popsicle sticks, and smoke bombs by putting stick match heads inside of two bottle caps taped together. Back then you had to be creative. :tongue3:  Great times though.
Thanks for the memory.
