GOOD LORD what a haul! Episode 95 is up!
Hello All,
I went to our "nickel field" to finish the last 7 rows and then go back through right after all the rain and get any remaining bits that were there. Well I hit it BIG with a pocket full of silver coins and items, some REALLY cool religious finds, and a STUNNING louisiana pelican button! Of course there was a lot more dug. The video is a double feature--44 minutes!--and I just couldn't fit it all in one vid (and wasn't willing to do a two-part one).
Heres the video:
Rather than do a blow-by-blow, I'll simply encourage you to watch the video. Here are a couple of the many highlights:
A phenomenal louisiana pelican button, stained by the red mud brick it had rested against for 150 years. I dry cleaned it, and left the red clay
A Pope Pius IX medal (he was pope in the 1840s through the 1870s). The medallion was made in 1869. Pius IX was the last pope in control of the Papal States, and he convened Vatican I FYI.
Looked down and saw something else looking back up at me. Creepy! Porcelain doll head in situ.
Silver rim in the clod Watch the video to see what it is.
Oil lantern top on top of the ground where the rain had washed it out.
Bronze figure of a Cupid (see the quiver on his hip) which I suspect is from a French figural mantle clock or candlesticks
After cleaning. Its SO heavy!!
In the video there's also more silver coins, great footage of finds washed out on top of the ground, more civil war relics and other non-silver coins dug. It was basically another display case full in one long 100 degree hunt!
Feel free to follow me on instagram at buckleboyla.
Best Wishes,
Buck
