Good idea or bad idea

It would be scratched soon and not clear.
I don't want changing background just a solid color that shows gold well.

In my opinion, (and that's all it is ) you can't beat a blue Pioneer pan. The gold really shows up good in one, I use a 10" size, and they have 2 sets of riffles to aid in removing the overburden.

I agree with Jimmydolittle. You need a pan that has a color contrast to better reveal the gold. Blue and Green are my choices. I bought a White pan once and almost went blind. I have 6 Green pans, 2 small black con pans and 1 Blue pan(rarely use this one). I always take at least 2 Green pans with me to the dig. Whether cleaning cons or testing samples, I like the GPPA Gold Trap pan. In spite of all our mining inventions the pan is still, and most often, the first and the last part of mining gold.:goldpan:

The blue pioneer pan has been awful for me lol I sanded it and there still it the bubbling on it this wax is tough

Use some dish soap on that pan.
And empty cloth / high grit sand paper and do small circles in the bottom and the smooth sides.

Clear sounds a little difficult to see the material flowing in the pan without being distracted by what you see beyond. Blue or green are personal choices and black is the way to go for me.

I tried literally everything even using rougher sandpaper it's a stubborn pan
