Hello all,

Almost didn't go out today, but it turned out to be a good hunt. Got a couple of nice quartz points, and a nice scraper. Found what looks like another small point in the same spot where I found the other one, is it really a point or is it just a chipping debris coincidence?? I pictured it next to the other one for reference. Also, it's a long shot but I was wondering if the last one is a pestle. I know it doesn't look smooth like the ones I've seen, but I just wanted to make sure. Please leave comments and thanks in advance:thumbsup:

Looks like a Pestle or even a sharpening stone. I know a guy that found one this year and took it to a show they called pestle on it and it wasn't real smooth but was long like that one. On the round quartz piece it might be a core or a preform. Everything posted looks like artifacts to me. Quartz is hard to tell on a comp screen though but it looks good from here. Nice finds Im glad you got out. You did good. Lets see the other end of the pestle.

Nice points there METAL. I think the smallest one looks like a point as well, and it sure is a tiny one. The "pestle" doesn't look to have a lot of wear or use on it, but I would think that if prehistoric peoples had found it, they certainly would have used it. HH

Hey guys, thanks for the comments. Here are some pics of the other end, so it's just a rock :( oh well. Thanks for showing my finds some love, I'll go comment of on some other peoples finds because I don't do it nearly enough.

Hey- not bad there. Know what you mean about quartz- I'm hunting a field where big trucks have cleared big trees- and broken a LOT of quartz. what was made me consider everything I pick up-- and made me really respect the folks who actually were able to make beautiful points w/ the stuff. Y'know, that long piece could have been a grinder- sideways- for corn and such. Looked like one side had a flat bit- which could have been caused by grinding... Just a thought. HH Yak

I would hang onto the "pestle" maybe if a show comes your way you can take it and ask some of the collectors about it. It has a nice shape to it. Id hang onto it
