that's a beautiful piece.
Interesting lions head casket piece.\
do you think this style of casket ornamentation could have also been used in the Victorian era?
have a fairly similar lead lions head, always wondered what it came from, attachment via 2 small copper brads.
looking forward to your next post!

Sorry, never implied that yours came from a casket (lockable chest), as these types of decor could attach to any number of items.
Understood, Thought it implied a burial casket,
I'm pretty sure it came off a similar item, just a decorative casting.
Your help is always appreciated.
thanks to You and all my other T-net friends, I have gained a wealth of Knowledge about both detecting, Id'ing, and dating.
Can't say enough good about T-net and it's members.
I've come a long way since March :notworthy:

A good year is an understatement! Awesome lion head. :headbang:

The Lion face is sad :-[ ... as if I were hungry or could not be with the Leone for three months. :laughing9:
Congrats is a beautiful find.

Very nice finds! Love the lion most. He must be happy to come out of the cold.
Its bad to have a good field and everything is frozen... :(
