Got in last night around 11pm from a hard day playing in the water. Got a call at 8:10 this morning. I was still in bed. Gentleman in a marina in Detroit lost a family heirloom ring behind his boat. He is older and was very upset. His father gave it to him 45 years ago. I told him I would be right there. Threw my wet suit in the dryer and filled three tanks to 2500psi as my air bank only has that size tanks. I didn't want to turn on the compressor that early.
Got to Detroit and met him. He was putting the cover on his 60' Sea Ray and the ring slipped off his finger. I suited up and went in. Found a few bottle tops, boat snaps, an old pair of reading glasses and a few other odds and ends. I was digging mid tones in water that was ZERO visibility. Well this ring wasn't a mid tone. It was an OVERLOAD bell tone. Ring was in the weeds behind the swim platform at around 7 foot deep. The scallop is the family symbol he said.
Made his day.
