Too much lightening activity for the water detecting that I would normally be doing, so I laced up my hikers and headed out into the desert. I came across a small spattering of debitage in a sandy area and spiraled out from there. Got a couple of shell beads, a small preform and a little obsidian point with an ear missing.
Getting close to the outer edge of the dune I walked up on this obsidian split-stem Eastgate.

Just a few minutes later I walked up on this sight...

The strained life of an old sage brush is evident in it's woody stem.

Very nice. I sometimes miss the trips I'd take for work all over Nevada. Did it for decades, but it got a bit rougher the older I got driving those highways from Denver and back about once a month.

Great looking points, and beautiful bowl! The serpent not so much.

What a great day! Keep enjoying the outdoors

Wonderful finds!

The preform on the left doesn’t look like obsidian. Is that one dacite?
It doesn't show well in the pics, but it's green obsidian. The source is where the Quinn River enters the northeastern tip of the Black Rock playa. I've found many green obsidian point over the years.
