Hello fellow treasure hunters.
Mac 232 and I braved the elements today. It was misting rain with occasional imbedded showers. temp was around 55F to 60F.
We went to the spot where in the last two days he has dug several silver coins. Right out of the truck I got a good signal at around 5-6"...out popped a 1952D wheatback! woohoo! My first wheatie! just a few feet further, got another good signal at around the same depth...this time it was a 1941 (no mint mark) wheatback! woohoo! Two on the same day! Not even 5 feet away, I got a strong dime signal at 6"...dug the plug and yelled across the lot "I got silver!" Mac came walking over and much to both our surprize there was another signal in the plug...Two Mercury dimes in the same hole! (1944 and 1939) Another first for me! (first silver coins not to mention first mercs!)
A little while later I got a iffy nickle signal at 7" and decided to dig it anyway...it was a 1939 (no mint mark) nickle! woohoo! My first pre-1950 nickle! The very next target was a strong quarter signal at 6"...much to my disappointment, it was an old beer can...but, directly under the can was an old clay marble! Another first for me! I would venture to say that this has been the very best day of detecting that I have ever had. Thanks Mac for inviting me to this spot! I hope that we can hit it again soon.
Hope everyone enjoys the pics...I sure did enjoy snapping them!
