Well, we got some good weather today so I went out to a new spot. Dad cleared some woods up, so I decided to try it out an see if there was anything there. To my surprise I was getting nail hits all over than this

Well I kept going for a while and found two wheat pennies dated 1935, 1931. The buffalo is 1925. Then I get a silver hit, dig a spot then bamm this comes out the clod

I would wear that medal every time you go out. That way if anyone complains about you digging, you can show them! ;)

Very nice!

Haha, yea that's a good idea. What? Oh look, I'm ok, you can go now everything's fine! Lol

Any readable buffalo nickel is great, they usually come out looking like a toasted dirt cake. That medal is also very awesome, I wonder what it's doing there?

Awesome finds! I agree, wear the medal and ward off nosey nellies

Cool finds, but I want to hear more about that fried chicken! :icon_sunny:

Dated buffalos are hard to find and the Good Conduct medal is awesome. Congrats.

Wow. That's a really cool medal. I wonder how old it is

Thanks, it's from wwII, it's an army medal. Given to those who served three years or more in combat. Pretty cool.

Cool finds, but I want to hear more about that fried chicken! :icon_sunny:

It was good! Mac an cheese, green beans, an beer battered fried chicken!

I think they've continued to make those into the 1980's pretty much the same as yours - I found one a year ago in Silver City, NM.
Nice Finds !

Yea argentium, they did. I know this one is that old because my great grandad bought the property In 49. Also, do you smith? Wonderin, argentium being a good quality silver.

Vonclemen29 , Yes I have been involved with silversmithing since 1974/5 I think - more regularly since the early 90's - and less
over the last six months or so (My Father and I are involved in a move) Silver is definitely my mistress , I'm crazy for her .
(nice you got the Buffalo nickel too - with a date ! the only one I ever found was a 1929 )

Cool, I've been in it for about seven years. My grandad got me into it. I made my own shop in the back yard, an during winter after done harvesting I do a lil silver smithing. Ain't nothin like it, but I don't work with argentium. It's a lil more brittle an expensive than I like. I do sterling. I do the cabs an everything. I found a wooly mammoth on the property an made my wife a broach, and ring with the ivory. Cabed it, then epoxy. Any way thanks, first buffalo I've found metal detecting. Here's my wife's favorite I've made her man made star ruby
