GoldMine,Scavengers and Skeletal Trees in "Dead Horse Gully"
Hi all, About 7pm this evening the wind picked up and dropped the temperture back to 90 degrees. I thouht i might go check out an area i have not been near for years.Only 10 mile drive but i was surprized how the area had changed. Large area of new undergrowth and many of the large tree had died during the drought that lasted 7 years. Growth was due to really wet winter we had last year. Walked along an old fire access track to a clearing and spotted a few Magpies feasting on the insects.Worked around an old shaft and managed about a Gram of gold in 3 pieces. The magpies are a cunning scavenger like a crow and will eat just about anything. I would fill my holes and as soon as i was few feet away they would wonder over and pick off anything that moves. These birds are quite tame but will dive bomb you when nesting. Seen some nasty beck holes in people. Going to be humid and real sticky tomorrow but should cool with thunderstorms late in the day. DEAD HORSE GULLY is the locations correct name. No idea why .
