I know this is a long shot, but I just arrived in San Fran to help my elderly father travel to the JP Morgan Conference held annually. I will have plenty of free time from Monday through Thursday. I have lived in the Bay Area most of my life so (as much as I still love seeing the city) I'd like to go detecting if I can. Problem is I don't have a detector on this trip and I'm staying in Union Sq. If anyone has an extra detector and the free time to go detecting this week, I would be glad to buy lunch/dinner in exchange. I'm good company, considerate person and it's probably a good idea to have two people watching each other's backs in parts of Golden Gate Park these days. That's the site I thought of, but maybe you know a better one. I would want to stay in San Fran on the off chance my dad would need to reach me for assistance during the day. Send me a message if interested. Thanks, Bergie

Bergie, there's several hunters in the SF area, that make sport fairly routinely of hunting GGP. It's been worked to death (the more obvious colorful zones), but there are so many acres, and so much history, that no one will ever "get it all". And some zones are so junky (modern zinc and clad, tabs etc...) that a lot of yester-year hunters avoided them, and headed to the more upscale cleaner ends. So there's lots of areas that have been avoided, but can pay off if someone is patient.

The trouble is, this CA forum section of T-net, as you see, gets very little traffic. All the CA hunters post/read on the "kinzli" forum. To get on that forum, you have to become a member. But it's easy: just pick a name and password and you're on. If you post this same post of yours there, you will probably get a taker (hey, who can argue with getting treated to lunch, eh? and yeah, most hardcore hunters have a spare machine, and will make any excuse to get out and hunt :))

If you can't get on there for some reason, email me at [email protected], and I'll steer you in the direction of a few SF hunters I have in mind. Am hunting this evening, as a matter of fact, with a SF hunter who's coming down to my area (2 hrs. south of there) for an un-related hunt. I can give him your info if need be.
