I've seen gold tarnish like that before.

When it's 14K plated they can tarnish.

it's possible it's gold. I've seen gold turn funky colors from being buried in ground where fertilizer is used, some beach finds, and even just from normal wear if the person has a wierd ph balance to their skin.

What I see is a ring that all the plating has come off. It may have been gold plated at one time, but you are down to the zinc or brass core. Please prove me wrong as I rarely see gold tarnished in such a way.

This was found on a beach in wet sand. Funny thing is I ordered a test kit this morning too. If it firs turn out to be gold how would you clean it? I have a homemade electrolysis cleaner for silver ( old phone charger) not sure if that'll be safe for gold.

Yes, it will tarnish. Get a polishing cloth for gold or let a jewler do it with a buffer.

Polish it up and it will look like gold, whether it is or not.

Ive seen 10k that looked just like that but not 14k...maybe its 10k thats marked 14k...let us know what you find out.

I'm going to bet its not gold but its possible, need a acid test to find out for sure.

The first 14k ring I found looked like brass. People forget that even 14k is almost 40% copper or brass.
