My mother found the medal in a box of buttons after my grandmother died.
We have been told that it is 12ct gold and that is all that we have been able to find out about it other than that Trimulgherry is in India and was a military town.

To me it seems to be a pretty special prize to be giving out for second place.

Thanks For any help

Damian

There is mention of a fort in Trimulgherry on google but I haven't been able to find a picture to see if it looks like the medal.

Funny, my old eyes read the years as 1913-1915.
I'll get back to my eye doc next week.
Don....
Must be contagious.....That's what I see too! :icon_scratch: :laughing7:

Just had a really close look and it is definitely 1918 - 1919 which would make some if it was awarded over a hockey season.

The back of the medal depicts
Charminar Mosque
in Hyderabad.

Not much info on Trimulgherry. I think the 45th D.S.C. stands for Division Supply Company or Column.

Pretty neat piece! Give us a family name and we may be able to find more info.

Something about the piece seems off. The surface doesn't look smooth. It could be a gold filled or gold plated piece, or could have just been a rough casting mold. You should have it tested, it's a lot of gold if it's solid.

Fort gate at Trimulgherry circa 1910.

It seems Trimulgherry was a popular duty station prior to WWI. I'm surprised there isn't more information on the internet.

It looks as if the Charminar Mosque medal or medallion was made blank on one side to be hand engraved at a later date by the purchaser of the medallion and not shaved like a love token.

Here is a gold coin with Charminar Mosque (not a match)

I fixed it. Its not a match but all I could find. They must have made more of these medallions for engraving but hard to find if not from the USA..
