Hello!

I met up with Ron this morning to do some detecting at the same place where I dug the Franklin half dollar yesterday during my lunch break. I wanted to see what Ron could find that I didn't ~ sure enough he digs a 1944 Merc dime, 1952 Rosie dime, and a dozen wheat cents. But I managed to dig some goodies too ~ here's what I dug:

10K Black Hills Gold ring (about 5 grams)
4 wheat cents ~ '42, '49, '52, & '57
Tootsie toy truck
small cap gun "BRAVE"
THIN DIME play coin
CHICKEN FEED play coin
1 clad 25c
12 clad dimes
1 modern nickel
35 Memorial cents

No silver coins for me today though ~ but the gold ring was a nice treasure for me. It's been a while since I've dug a nice gold ring.

HAPPY HUNTING!

Neil

Hmm... Let me think about it :icon_scratch: :icon_study: ??? Yea I'm pretty sure I'll take Gold over Silver anyday.

Nice finds,

Keep @ it and HH!!

I will still trade you the merc and the Rosie for your GOLD ring Did your Wife confiscate it yet LOl Nice find Congrats

Nice hunt! I figured from your previous post there was a connection between the Henny Penny and the Thin Dime. The way the economy is now, sounds like it's time to resurrect those terms!

Congrats on the ring as well!

Good finds Neil..... it's been a while since you haven't
found some silver of some kind!!! But the Black Hills GOLD ring
should ease the silver loss a little..... it's a beauty!! WTG!!
Congrats on the other neat finds as well. HH

THANKS Ron!

Yeah, the wife has claimed the gold ring already! I'm OK with that ~ she deserves it ~ she's always so good about letting me go detecting just about anytime I want to!

very nice job on the gold ring! id sure take that over silver coins any day! :)

It's funny how just about everyone would say they'd rather find a gold ring than a silver coin. Call me weird ~ but I'm a true "coinshooter" at heart ~ I'd rather find silver coins than gold rings! SURE, gold is worth more than silver ~ gold is rarer than silver . . . . . . but in my heart of hearts I get more excitied when I find a silver coin than when I dig gold.

One time I was out with Ron and I dug a 1913 Barber dime and just minutes later dug a big 14K ring. I sold the ring for $120 and kept the Barber dime that's worth only 3 or 4 dollars! I was more attached to the dime than the gold ring. But that's just me!

Oh, I agree 100% as far as collectivity the silver coins are much more desirable. :o The gold is just better value and profit wise. Unless you dug King Arthur's gold ring or something.

Keep @ It and HH!!
