You keep finding the good stuff. Maybe the goldsmiths initials.

What a NICE RING! :hello2:

The initials say "S. G" in fancy late 19th century script. Note the "G" in this picture of script: http://cg.scs.carleton.ca/~luc/E+FGyles-QuillPenScript.jpg

Kinda looks like a "9".

So the S.G. on the inside of the ring is the same initial set. My guess is that it's late 19th century to early 20th. But that's only a guess. I'd also guess the Karet at somewhere between 20 and 24 but you can get that checked.

I like that ring enough to vote it as BANNER!

I think you guys are correct as far as the initials seem the same. It may be the makers initials as Bigcy suggested.
I found it on an old beach Moe. I have never heard of a signet ring. :dontknow:
Thanks for the banner vote DrJoePrime.

Signet rings are very common. Basically rings with initials or some symbol/design.

Maybe but not one's everyday find. Garabaldi , please guide me to the main thread on Today's Find and I will vote a banner :icon_thumright: :icon_thumright: :icon_thumright: :icon_thumright:
Very attractive piece of old jewellery. Well done!!!

WOW!! You're killing that beach. . . beautiful ring and old

There must have been a couple of feet of sand moved around and you're now
in the sweet zone. I'd hit that area for all it's worth. The little Cracker Jack
toys (on your elephant post) that you found are early 20th-century so there's no
telling how old you can go.

Great stuff!
