Beach & Shallow Water Hunting
Finding where to hunt can sometimes be a challenge but for me it seems to get easier with time.

Yesterday I needed to visit my regular city library and since it's close to a particular beach that's where I also hunted. Never really been successful at that particular spot however my optimism was high.

Hitting pennies at the waterline, while not particularly fun, showed me that some sand movement had occurred. A few nickles and quarters and dimes were joining the pennies. Aha..I've got a real hunt underway!

Hit a target at the extreme end of my swing and while pinpointing it found another target about a foot farther into the surf. First target a penny .. second target a bit louder and different.

It was with a bit of a shock that there in my scoop sat a gold ring! I know I exclaimed something..either AHA...or AHOY or ARRGH. I think it must have been involuntary because I remember hearing it but not saying it (coprolalia?).

It's a fairly large ladies ring with a purple stone and six diamonds, light at only 2.3 grams. The karat marking seems to have worn off .. no doubt it's gold. Hard to get a photo doing justice to the ring so I did two. The side is very elaborate and leads me to believe it's older. The diamonds I suspect are real and will get them tested. Notice the sand particles stuck in the design.

Nice find, those stones must be in there tight for them to all still be there.

Congrats!

Nice Find in Long Beach Joe ... I did pretty good myself this morning in the Belmont Shore area of Long Beach. We need to hunt together again one of these days.

Very nice! I need to relocate near a beach :icon_scratch:

WTG,looks like a pretty Tanzanite gold ring:icon_thumleft::hello2:

Beautiful ring. Congratulations.

Nice one. I tend to like it when some sand stays lodged in them like that.

Way to go Joe!
It's a beaut!!

It may be an older ring or it could be a retro design by a jewler.
I suspect that it was recently lost - judging by the condition.
