I got an email last week from someone who had lost their wedding band a couple of years ago. He had all but given up hope of ever finding it, but figured it might be worth a try to get in touch with someone with a metal detector. I replied back that he should give me a call. I asked him where he lost it and he told me it was at a soccer field when his son scored his first ever goal. He said the field was busy so we would have to go very early in the morning. Well, Saturday I had very early plans for my favorite park (left my house at 5:15 am). I was also busy Sunday. Yesterday morning I had a bit of time so I figured I would take a look. He said it was near the bleachers. Fortunately there was only one very small bleacher. It took me about 20 minutes to pop out a 14k gold wedding band. Wanting to make sure it was his, I gave him a quick call and asked him when he got married. He said June 20th, 1992. I replied I have your ring in my hand. He was shocked. He thought he would never see it again. It's fun when you get a chance to return something with such sentimental value.

That would have shocked me too. He lost it years ago and it was still there? Wow that means that this field has not be picked over much. That, my friend, will be a honey hole.

Well Done !!!! Nice story !!!

Way to Go, Don! You are yet another great "Ombudsman" for our hobby. Sub 8-)

Great return! Just in time for their anniversary!

I agree! Now, what else did you find that you ain't talking about??

Kudos for going the extra mile to find the ring and return it to the owner!

Nice job on taking the time to help someone out like that. Good Karma will be coming your way in bunches :)

Hearing stories like this are just plain AWESOME!!

Thank You!!

The field may have been hunted by a lot of people who detected like I started last year, max discrimination only pulling copper and silver. Better get back there before they wise up and change thewir disc settings.

Congrats on finding gold and a double congrats on the return.:occasion14:

What a great feeling when you are able to hand back a memory. Good on you, man!
