Gold Panning and Mining

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone has ever been to the Pine Spruce or Little Switzerland area of the NC mountains? If so, is one mine better than the other for gold or gems? I have read that a lot of mines are salted or enriched and I would like to dig or pan or MD for my treasure right out of the ground.
